Topics

The purpose of ThEC15 is to review and update the status of thorium energy technologies, including R&D efforts as well as industrial developments. It will cover national and international programmes on thorium technologies, covering industrial perspectives as well as economic considerations. The conference intends to cover topics such as front-end and back-end of the thorium fuel cycle, the use of thorium in critical reactors and in Accelerator Driven Systems (ADS) etc. The aim is to bring together all experts involved in the development of thorium energy systems so as to promote scientific exchange and open avenues for cooperation. The deliberations of the conference will cover the following topics related to thorium fuel cycle:

Exploration, mining and processing

Thermo-physical and chemical properties of fuels

Reactor physics and nuclear data

Challenges in fuel fabrication

Innovative reactor concepts

Thermal hydraulics and safety

Material challenges

Irradiation experiences in existing reactors

I&C issues and challenges for advanced reactors

Accelerator driven sub-critical systems (ADS) and spallation neutron source

Reduction of nuclear waste

Back-end technologies

Economics

Non-power applications
